Drishti means "sight" — the way a planet casts its influence onto other houses and planets. A planet affects not only the house it sits in, but also the houses it aspects, which is why drishti is essential to reading a kundali correctly.
The 7th-house aspect
Every planet aspects the 7th house from itself (a full, direct aspect). So a planet in the 1st house also influences the 7th, a planet in the 4th influences the 10th, and so on.
Special aspects
- Mars — additionally aspects the 4th and 8th houses from itself.
- Jupiter — additionally aspects the 5th and 9th houses (a very benefic, protective aspect).
- Saturn — additionally aspects the 3rd and 10th houses.
- Rahu and Ketu are also often given 5th, 7th and 9th aspects.
Why drishti matters
A benefic aspect from Jupiter can protect and uplift a house, while a hard aspect from Saturn or Mars can bring delays or friction there. दृष्टि का अर्थ है "नजर" — जिस तरह ग्रह अन्य भावों व ग्रहों पर अपना प्रभाव डालता है। ग्रह केवल जिस भाव में बैठा है उसे ही नहीं, बल्कि जिन भावों को देखता है उन्हें भी प्रभावित करता है, इसलिए कुंडली सही पढ़ने के लिए दृष्टि आवश्यक है।
सप्तम दृष्टि
हर ग्रह अपने से सातवें भाव को देखता है (पूर्ण, सीधी दृष्टि)। अतः प्रथम भाव का ग्रह सप्तम को, चतुर्थ का ग्रह दशम को प्रभावित करता है।
विशेष दृष्टियाँ
- मंगल — अतिरिक्त रूप से अपने से चौथे व आठवें भाव को देखता है।
- गुरु — अतिरिक्त रूप से पाँचवें व नवें भाव को देखता है (अत्यंत शुभ, रक्षक दृष्टि)।
- शनि — अतिरिक्त रूप से तीसरे व दसवें भाव को देखता है।
- राहु-केतु को भी अक्सर 5, 7, 9 दृष्टि दी जाती है।
दृष्टि क्यों मायने रखती है
गुरु की शुभ दृष्टि किसी भाव की रक्षा व उन्नति करती है, जबकि शनि या मंगल की कठोर दृष्टि वहाँ विलंब या टकराव ला सकती है। किसी भाव को आँकने के लिए उसके ग्रह, स्वामी व उस पर पड़ती हर दृष्टि देखनी चाहिए।

દૃષ્ટિ એટલે "નજર" — જે રીતે ગ્રહ અન્ય ભાવ ને ગ્રહો પર પોતાનો પ્રભાવ નાખે. ગ્રહ ફક્ત જે ભાવમાં બેઠો છે એને જ નહીં, પણ જે ભાવોને જુએ એમને પણ અસર કરે, એટલે કુંડળી બરાબર વાંચવા દૃષ્ટિ જરૂરી છે.
સપ્તમ દૃષ્ટિ
દરેક ગ્રહ પોતાનાથી સાતમા ભાવ ને જુએ (પૂર્ણ, સીધી દૃષ્ટિ). એટલે પ્રથમ ભાવનો ગ્રહ સપ્તમને, ચતુર્થનો ગ્રહ દશમને અસર કરે.
વિશેષ દૃષ્ટિઓ
- મંગળ — વધારામાં પોતાનાથી ચોથા ને આઠમા ભાવને જુએ.
- ગુરુ — વધારામાં પાંચમા ને નવમા ભાવને જુએ (ખૂબ શુભ, રક્ષક દૃષ્ટિ).
- શનિ — વધારામાં ત્રીજા ને દશમા ભાવને જુએ.
- રાહુ-કેતુને પણ ઘણી વાર 5, 7, 9 દૃષ્ટિ અપાય છે.
દૃષ્ટિ કેમ મહત્વની
ગુરુની શુભ દૃષ્ટિ કોઈ ભાવની રક્ષા ને ઉન્નતિ કરે, જ્યારે શનિ કે મંગળની કઠોર દૃષ્ટિ ત્યાં વિલંબ કે ઘર્ષણ લાવી શકે. કોઈ ભાવ આંકવા એના ગ્રહ, સ્વામી ને એના પર પડતી દરેક દૃષ્ટિ જોવી જોઈએ.
