Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to know about generating and reading your kundali on AstrologyViewer. Can't find your answer? Contact us.

Is AstrologyViewer free to use?

Yes. Generating your kundali, dashas, panchang, kundli milan, KP charts and numerology reports is completely free. The site is supported by advertising, so you never need to pay or subscribe to use the core tools.

How accurate are the kundali calculations?

Planetary positions are computed with the Swiss Ephemeris, a high-precision ephemeris cross-checked against NASA JPL DE440 data. Charts use the Nirayana (sidereal) zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa. Given an accurate birth date, exact time and correct place, the Lagna, houses, nakshatra and planetary degrees are astronomically precise.

Why do I need my exact birth time?

The Ascendant (Lagna) moves through all twelve signs in about 24 hours — roughly one new sign every two hours. A small error in birth time can change your Lagna, your house placements and your dasha balance. For the most reliable chart, use the time on your birth certificate or hospital record.

What is the Lahiri ayanamsa and why use it?

Ayanamsa is the angular gap between the sidereal and tropical zodiacs. Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) is the standard adopted by the Government of India's Calendar Reform Committee and the most widely used ayanamsa in Vedic astrology — which is why it is our default. Our KP module uses the Krishnamurti ayanamsa, as that system requires.

What is Mangal Dosha (Manglik), and how do you decide it?

Mangal Dosha forms when Mars sits in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the Lagna, Moon or Venus. We check all three references, then apply the classical Bhanga (cancellation) rules — Mars in its own or exalted sign, aspect or conjunction with Jupiter, and more. If any cancellation applies, the final verdict is shown as "no dosha"; otherwise it is shown as present.

What is Kundli Milan and how many gunas are good?

Kundli Milan (Ashtakoot) scores compatibility across eight kootas for a maximum of 36 gunas. Generally, 18+ is acceptable and 24+ is considered good. Our tool also flags Mangal and Nadi dosha and explains each koota, so you understand the score instead of just seeing a number.

What is a Dasha, and how does Vimshottari work?

A dasha is a planetary time period that governs when results unfold. Vimshottari, the most widely used system, is a 120-year cycle shared among the nine planets, seeded by your Moon's nakshatra at birth. We show Mahadasha, Antardasha and deeper sub-levels with exact dates.

Vedic vs Western astrology — what's the difference?

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac (fixed to the stars); Western uses the tropical zodiac (fixed to the seasons). Because of the ~24° ayanamsa gap, your Vedic sign is often one sign earlier than your Western sign. Vedic astrology also leans heavily on the Moon sign, nakshatras and the dasha system.

What is the KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) system?

KP is a modern, highly precise Indian predictive system. It sub-divides each sign into sub-lords using the Vimshottari proportions, giving 249 divisions, and uses Placidus cusps with the Krishnamurti ayanamsa. Our KP tools include birth sub-lords, a horary (Prashna) 1–249 calculator and cuspal predictions.

Do you store my birth details?

Charts are generated on demand from what you enter. If you sign in with Google and choose to save a kundali, it is stored so you can view it again on any device. We do not sell your personal data — see our Privacy Policy.

Can I use the site without signing in?

Yes. Every chart works without an account. Google sign-in is optional and only needed to save kundalis for later.

What does the numerology tool calculate?

It computes your Life Path, Destiny, Soul Urge, Personality, Birthday and Maturity numbers from your name and date of birth, plus Personal Year cycles, the Feng Shui Kua number and a Lo Shu grid — each with an explanation of how it is derived.

Can astrology predict exact dates?

No tool can predict exact dates with certainty. Astrology indicates likely periods — for example, marriage windows are estimated from the dashas of the 7th lord, 7th-house planets and Venus. Please treat all predictions as indicative guidance, not guarantees, and make important decisions with qualified professionals.

Which languages are supported?

The whole site works in English, Hindi (हिन्दी) and Gujarati (ગુજરાતી). Switch anytime using the language buttons in the header.

Can I install it as an app?

Yes. On mobile Chrome, use "Install app" / "Add to Home screen" to launch AstrologyViewer full-screen like an app. It needs an internet connection to load.
